Who We Work With

I work with parties who are experiencing problems in the context of family relations, who want to avoid the emotional and financial drain of family litigation, and are willing to do work on finding solutions.

These parties have either a legal relationship or right which is causing a conflict; and needs to be addressed or will result in a legal proceeding.  It includes married couples who are thinking of ending their marriage and want to work together to come up with solutions for issues regarding the children if they have any, and their property rights.  It also includes parties involved in paternity cases as well as parents who are divorced but need to address issues concerning their children or property (such as modification of alimony after a divorce).

Are some of these statements true for you?

"I have a child or children, and need to resolve questions of child support and visitation.  We want to work things out without a lot of fighting."

"I'm married, and my spouse and I want to get divorced amicably.  We don't have children but we have property and debt that we would like to settle on as amicably as possible"

"My spouse and I want to get a divorce.  But we have children, and want to come up with a time-sharing schedule that will work best for the children.  We want to avoid or minimize the emotional impact to them of our divorce."

"We are divorced but now have to make some changes regarding our children.  We want to work together to avoid going back into court; we don't want to spend time fighting if it's something we can agree to ourselves."

"I went through a lot during my first divorce.  My spouse and I want to get a divorce, and we are willing to try to resolve everything ourselves before we go into court."

"I have a lawyer and we're in court, but we want to explore settling our case before we go on spending time and money on our divorce."

If any of the above statements are applicable to you, then you are a party who may benefit from exploring this site.

Clients are likely to be sucessful working with me if:

"During the mediation, you will keep an open mind for possible solutions to the legal problems you're facing."

"You are willing to consider different alternatives to a solution before rejecting them."

"Your purpose is to resolve the problem(s) as best as possible taking into consideration the interest of everyone involved, as well as the alternatives to failing to reach an agreement."

"You are considering mediation with a sincere wish to solve the problem(s) and not to get revenge on, or manipulate, the other party."

"You are willing to enter into an agreement subject to an attorney(for either party) reviewing it if either party so requests."
